The 25-member Klezmer Company Orchestra (KCO), together for the first time with the KlezKats vocal ensemble, performs a tour-de-force concert of new orchestrations and arrangements. KCO celebrates its 13th year with music from the Americas, Europe and the Mediterranean. Music director Aaron Kula turns up the heat with premieres of classic Klezmer melodies in new settings that push cultural boundaries. JudeoJazzistico will be one of the year’s most exciting musical events!

Kultur Festival 2010 is the only festival of its kind in South Florida. This second annual celebration of Jewish culture includes six days of concerts, presentations, lectures, song, dance, film and book arts. The festival showcases FAU Libraries' special collections through the talents of guest artists, distinguished scholars and critically acclaimed musicians, including Klezmer Company Orchestra (KCO), the library's professional ensemble-in-residence. The American Yiddish Jazz Orchestra

Seven KCO musicians play music from the Florida AtlaLibraries' Jewish Sheet Music Collection. This concert is to benefit the library and is hosted by the FAU Jewish Culture Society.

Klezmer Company Jazz Ensemble

American Sheet Music Sing Along at Lifelong Learning

Join KCO as they lead an American sheet music sing along that will include some of the biggest hits from stage and film. They will improvise over arrangements on well known songs from FAU Libraries’ American Sheet Music Collection dating from 1890-1950.

Beyond The Tribes

Kula will lecture and use vintage recordings to examine Jewish music of the 1920s and 1950s. He is director of music collections and performance at FAU Libraries and founder of KCO, which is the library’s professional ensemble-in- residence.

Tantz, Samba & Soul with The Ebony Chorale

KCO and The Ebony Chorale of Palm Beaches join forces for a performance of Negro and Jewish spirituals that will rock the house of prayer. Songs will include music by Gershwin, Blues Kiddush by Kurt Weill, Mambo Freylachs.

Klez4Kidz: “The Kugel Valley Klezmer Band”

Klez4Kidz is an event for the whole family! This multimedia presentation of the critically acclaimed children’s book The Kugel Valley Klezmer Band features narrator Riva Ginsburg and members of the Klezmer Company Orchestra. A dramatic reading, live music and projected illustrations from the book will bring this charming story to life. 10-year-old Shira loves the fiddle, but is she good enough to play with her father’s Klezmer band? Parents and children are encouraged to bring blankets. Dancing to the musical interludes is also a favorite activity for both young and mature attendees. Grandparents are sure to enjoy this unique program too!

KlezJam with Members of KCO

Jam with KCO led by director Aaron Kula! This is a rare opportunity to play popular Klezmer tunes with the professional musicians of KCO. Participants will learn the basics of playing in a Klezmer band. Music - lead sheets with chord changes will be provided and notated for C, Bb, Eb and bass clef instruments. All instruments and listeners are welcome with limited seating. Bring your own portable music stand.

St. Patrick’s Day Sing Along with KCO

Come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with an Irish sing along. KCO will play folk songs from the vast FAU Library Sheet Music Collection that includes some of the most famous Irish folk songs including Danny Boy, My Wild Irish Rose, Greensleeves, and more. St. Patrick’s at the library will be another one of a kind experience with KCO.
